Sobre la Carrera

Los trabajadores comunitarios de la salud (CHW) mejoran la salud individual y comunitaria y el acceso a la atención. Forjan conexiones donde las personas viven, aprenden, trabajan, juegan, rezan y envejecen, desde el centro de la ciudad hasta las comunidades rurales. Los trabajadores de salud comunitarios tienen un conocimiento profundo de los problemas y recursos locales; a menudo hablan el idioma de las comunidades a las que sirven y tienen un profundo conocimiento de su cultura. Son un componente cada vez más clave del equipo de atención médica de sus comunidades. ​
  • Los CHW están capacitados para realizar visitas domiciliarias en su comunidad e identificar los primeros síntomas de enfermedades. En estas visitas domiciliarias, los CHW están capacitados para brindar educación sobre la salud sobre cómo prevenir enfermedades e identificar cualquier síntoma preocupante.
  • Los CHW también están capacitados para brindar referencias a clínicas y centros de salud cercanos para recibir tratamiento y para informar los casos de enfermedades.

    The Empowering the Masses Community Health Worker Training (CHW) Program is a Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) approved CHW Training Site for both CHW 160- hour (12 Weeks) training and CEU training for CHWs and CHWIs. Classes are held in the morning classes and evening classes (with occasional workshops on Saturdays) and can be completed by working full time
